Thursday Sept 27

Today in grade 12 we reviewed the parts of the lab, looked at the first 2 sections of the lab report rubric together on the overhead and did the planning for the enzyme lab. In grade 9 we took up yesterday's textbook work, analyzed the results of yesterday's game, wrote a practice quiz and then took it up. In grade 10 we practiced writing chemical equations, took a note about counting atoms and did a practice sheet about counting atoms.

Wednesday Sept 26

On Wednesday in grade 12 we learned about how to take samples for the "let's talk science" project and figured out who is going to get which sample. We also had some study time for next week's test. In grade 9 we finished planting our plants, did a textbook reading and questions about bioaccumulation and played a bioamplification game outside. In grade 10 we had some study time then wrote our first Quest.

Tuesday Sept 26

In grade 12 bio today we did a powerpoint lesson on enzymes, weighed our potatoes from the osmosis lab and had time to work on the lab questions and the enzyme questions (p77 #4-9).In grade 9 today we worked on our plant labs the whole period. In grade 10 we took up yesterday's equation practice, played a review game and then worked on study sheets for tomorrow's quest.

Here's what we did today. In grade 12 we had a review discussion about types of transport and osmosis. We then set up an osmosis "learning lab" and worked on a transport review sheet and osmosis application questions. In grade 9 we shared our carbon cycle stories, took up the carbon cycle questions from friday, played a carbon cycle game and then created questions for our plant lab. In grade 10 we reviewed making word equations, watched some youtube videos about sodium chloride and learned how to write chemical equations with formulas.

Thursday Sept 13

In grade 12 bio we finished the lipids group work and took it up. Worked on practice questions p40 #11,12,13,15,17 and the lipids section of the summary chart. There was some time to work on the review booklets for macromolecules as well. In grade 9 we worked on the fish practice lab all period. In grade 10 we did a practice sheet about classification, reviewed Bohr diagrams and then did a Bohr diagram cut and paste for the rest of the period.

Wednesday Sept 12

In grade 12 bio we finished discussing carbohydrates and took up homework problems and we did the lipids jigsaw handout. In grade 9 we spent the whole period working on the fish lab. In grade 10 we finished the classification note, did a classification sorting activity, did a practice sheet about classification and reviewed how to draw bohr diagrams.

Tuesday Sept 11

Here's what we did today: In grade 12 bio we did a reading sheet about carbohydrates, took it up, answered p34 2,3,5,6,8,10 and completed the carbohydrates section of the summary sheet. In grade 9 we took up the method practice, re-wrote the stickman method and started making questions for the fish lab. In grade 10 we did a physical properties demo, a cut and paste about physical and chemical change, a chemical change demo and started the classification note.

Monday Sept 7
